तुमने कदम जो रखा ज़मीं पर, सीने में क्यों झंकार हुई...
‘Tis that time soon ... to welcome Maa to Earth her paternal home for Durga Puja. Followed a month later with Lakshmi Puja & Diwali. You can already feel the festivities in the air. Can you hear the anklets on her feet?
धड़कनों ने सुनी, एक सदा पाओं की
और दिल पे लहराई, आँचल की छाओं सी ...
Goddess Lakshmi is regarded as the Goddess of wealth and prosperity.
An interesting tradition related to Lakshmi Puja is that of drawing the footprints of Goddess Lakshmi on the thresholds of the houses. These footprints also known as the “Shripada” are drawn on the eve of Lakshmi Puja using rangoli from the entrance of the house pointing inwards symbolising Lakshmi entering the home and staying there forever. Hence the doors of the house are left open on the day of Lakshmi Puja so that the Goddess can enter without hindrance. The Shripada are also drawn on the lids of coin boxes or money chests as it is believed that these footprints guide the Goddess to walk the path of richness and abundance in a person's life!
Presenting “Shripada” or “feet of Maa Lakshmi” an intricately entirely hand made work of art using beads, pearls, stones, Ari & mirrors to depict the bejeweled feet of Maa with alta & anklets. This festive season may she bestow you with abundance of prosperity!
