“Aaj mere paas gaadi hai, bungla hai, bank balance hai; tumhaare paas kya hai?
Mere paas Maa hai!”
The first three days of Navratri are dedicated to the Maa Durga, also known as Shakti or Devi, the protective mother of the universe. Sitting astride a lion or tiger, the multi-limbed Durga battles the forces of evil in the world representing power, will, and determination. In riding this fearsome beast, Durga symbolizes her mastery over all these qualities. Her bold pose is called Abhaya Mudra, which means "freedom from fear."
